General things you should  know !

 

Most visitors of Bali are returning visitors and even choice Bali as there favourite destination. Only  few tips and recommendations will make things very Practical  and can avoid  unpleasant  situations. Well informed and going and staying in the right places.

Language :
Even a few  words can help a lot  and the Balinese people will really appreciate you speak

 

  • Hello = Halo 
  • Good morning = Selamat Pagi
  • Good afternoon = Selamat sore
  • Goodbye =  Selamat Jalan
  • How are you = Apa Kabar
  • Thanks you = Terima Kasih
  • Be careful = Hati Hati
Important  :  Bali & Indonesian langue is completely different!

 The population of Bali is around three million of which ninety-five percent are ethnic Balinese with a Javanese minority. Bahasa Indonesia is the national language, which is akin to Malay, written in Roman script and based on European orthography. In all tourist destination areas English is the number one foreign language spoken and written, some Dutch is still spoken and understood in the bigger cities. French is increasing in its popularity at the better hotels and restaurants. The older generations still speak Dutch as a second language.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Arrival Denpasar Airport.

 All travellers to Bali must have passports valid for at least 6 months.from date of arrival and have proof of onward or return passage.  Keep passport in safe box , and make a copy to travel around.A visa on arrival can be obtained.

The fee is US$10 for a stay up to 7 days and US$25 for a stay from 8 to 30 days max.
Departure Denpasar Airport.
Airport departure tax Domestic flights : Rp. 30.000.
International departure tax : Rp. 150.000. 

 

 Money

Be very carful when changing money, try and go to the reputable money changes ie: Banks or Kodak stores etc rather than the ones on the street. Or use the cash machines who are all over the place ATM cash machines gives Rp. 50.000  BNI cash machines gives Rp. 100.000. 

    

 

     

 


Customs 

Customs allows on entry a maximum of two litres of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco and a reasonable amount of perfume per adult. Car, photo equipment, typewriters and recorders must be declared on entry and when re-exported. Do not get in volt in any drugs using or trafficking It could lead to dead penalty.In the Kuta / Seminiak night scene area you will be  offered by local dealers. Enough foreigners reside in Bali courtesy of the Government prison.

 

 

 

 

 Ceremonies

 

  • Always wear a sarong and sash.
  • Do not walk in front of people that are praying.
  • Do not use camera into the priest face. 

 Cremations

 

  • Do not get in the way of the attendees.
  • Wowan are not allowed during menstruation.
  • Donations are gratefully received and will help in.
  • Paying for the offerings and upkeep of the temple. 

 

 

Car / Bike rentals

If you do rent a car or bike , be aware that most drivers do  NOT have insurance. Lot’s of ex-pats always have a lots of cash ( at least 1 Ml Rp ) watt can arrange fast solution. 

 

 

Cellular Network 

It could happen that your mobile phone is working fine the first days and without you realise you will be not connected and everybody will hear a ID voicemail and will be also not possible to leave a message.

Best solution is to get a ID simcard, watt will only cost you 30.000 Rp and you wlil be and most locals taxi drivers or guides will cal you and properly not  on your international number..

 

 

  

If you have your laptop with you and want connection, it will be practical to have a 3G GSM phone on you or get a flesh stick with one of the telephone operators. Wil only cost 1 Ml Rp and you surf unlimited from anywhere. 

If you need during your stay some assistance or you do have problem with your laptop, You can trust on a local TechNet who will be able to drop in your holiday accommodation to sort out your laptop or even to rein store windows if needed.
